Intensive Preparation for Elite Engineering Schools
The CPGE (Classes Préparatoires aux Grandes Écoles) is a highly demanding two-year program that prepares students for the competitive entrance exams to France's most prestigious engineering schools (Polytechnique, ENS, CentraleSupélec, Mines-Ponts). The MP track is the most mathematics-intensive, with 12 hours of math and 9 hours of physics per week.
Mathematics (12h/week)
Linear Algebra, Abstract Algebra (Groups, Rings, Fields), Real & Complex Analysis, Topology, Differential Equations, Probability Theory, Numerical Methods.
Physics (7h/week)
Classical Mechanics, Electromagnetism, Thermodynamics, Optics, Quantum Mechanics fundamentals, Wave Theory.
Computer Science & Engineering
Algorithms, Data Structures, Recursion, Graph Theory, Automata, Programming (Python/OCaml).
Humanities
French Literature & Philosophy, Foreign Languages (English), developing critical thinking and communication skills essential for future engineers.
Evaluation System
Weekly oral examinations (colles/khôlles), written exams, and continuous assessment. The workload is exceptionally high — students are often called "taupins" (moles) for their intensive study lifestyle.
Selectivity: National competitive exams (Concours) with acceptance rates as low as 5-10% for top schools. The MP track offers the most seats at prestigious schools like Polytechnique, ENS, and CentraleSupélec.
